With November around the corner, the Royal Canadian Legion kicks off the annual poppy campaign by presenting the mayor of Central Saanich, Ryan Windsor, with the first poppy as well as a poppy flag to be raised at municipal hall.
According to a press release, it will be raised for the first time in the community. Central Saanich will raise the flag each year on the first official day of the National Poppy Campaign.

In another first for Central Saanich, this year’s Remembrance Day ceremony will be held at Pioneer Park on Clarke Road, not municipal hall, because of a new cenotaph that was recently installed.
Poppies will be available at the front counter of Municipal Hall until Friday, Nov. 9.
