Police briefs: Roadside suspension issued to speeder

Driver fails roadside tests after speeding past cops

Just after 4 a.m. on Sept. 9, officers observed a vehicle traveling at an estimated 80 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on Mount Newton X Road.

When police stopped the vehicle, they noticed the 42-year-old woman who was driving smelled like alcohol.

The Central Saanich resident was given two roadside screening tests and failed both, resulting in her being issued a 90-day immediate roadside suspension.
