One person still in hospital after long weekend rollover crash in Central Saanich

Four people sent to hospital, one in critical condition

One person remains in hospital after a weekend crash saw the Central Saanich Fire Department extricate three people from a vehicle after it rolled down an embankment.

Firefighters and the Central Saanich Police Service responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash in the 3100-block of Island View Road shortly before 2:30 a.m. on May 22.

Crews located a vehicle that had left the roadway, rolled down an embankment and struck several trees. Three people were extracted and transported to Victoria General Hospital. The fourth was able to remove himself from the vehicle and was transported to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital, according to a statement from police.

Of the four people in the vehicle, one was in critical condition and remains in hosptial. The other three sustained minor injuries.

This is an active investigation, and as of Wednesday afternoon, police said no further updates were available.
