North Saanich Mayor Alice Finall announced that she will stand for re-election as Mayor of North Saanich in the upcoming November elections.
“As a municipality, we have made considerable progress since 2008, and I believe more can be done,” said Finall. “There are a number of initiatives close to completion that I would like to move forward with next term. Therefore, I am asking residents for their vote on Nov. 19 to allow me to continue efforts on their behalf.”
Finall has received an encouraging level of community support throughout her time in office and for her bid for re-election. A campaign kick-off event will be held on Sunday, Oct. 16, at 3 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Church Hall on 1319 Mills Road.
As Mayor, Finall said she has worked with council and administration to provide careful focus on spending decisions. Land use planning decisions have resulted in managed, balanced residential and commercial growth that meets the needs of the municipality within the framework of the 2007 Official Community Plan and the Regional Growth Strategy.
“We continue to see growth in many businesses in North Saanich, with increased business licenses and increased value in building permits. This level of growth is attributable to the stability and vibrancy of this community,” said Finall.
With extensive community consultation, mayor and council completed an Agricultural Area Plan and developed a Whole Community Agricultural Strategy for its implementation.

A resident of North Saanich since 1975 and a retired lawyer, Finall has more than a decade of municipal council experience and is completing her first term as mayor.
