North Saanich launches emergency notification system

The District is asking its residents to self-register to the system, meant to keep people informed about emergencies in their area.

NORTH SAANICH — The District of North Saanich is the latest municipality on the Peninsula to adopt an emergency notification system.

The District is asking its residents to self-register to the system, meant to keep people informed about emergencies in their area.

The Emergency Response Management Services Corporation’s mass notification system, according to the District, requires individuals to register.

Signing up for the system is voluntary and confidential and people will be sent updates on emergencies and other incidents on cell phones, either via text or voice messages.

Similar systems are already in place in Central Saanich and Sidney.
