A man believed to have stabbed someone in the head in downtown Victoria on Wednesday has been arrested.

Victoria police were called to a multi-unit residential building in the 800-block of Johnson Street shortly before 2:30 p.m. Jan. 5 for a report of a stabbing. When they arrived, officers found a man with several stab wounds to his head in a potentially life-threatening state.

Paramedics transported him to hospital where, following treatment, his injuries have been downgraded to non-life-threatening. VicPD said in a release the man’s injuries may well prove life-altering.

Officers were able to identify the suspect and take him into custody Wednesday without incident, and he was held for court. He faces recommended charges of assault causing bodily harm.
