Man found dead on boat washed up near Sidney

Shortly after noon on Wednesday, Dec. 30, a man in his 70s was found dead in a sailboat, which had washed up on Goudge Island, northeast of Sidney.

Corporal Erin Fraser with the Sidney North Saanich RCMP said the man was alone at the time he was found.

Coroner Barb McLintock said the fatality occurred due to medical issues. The boat, which she said was a Capri 26, was found with the sails down.

The name of the man has not been released.
