Former Central Saanich councillor Zeb King announced that he will run for a council seat in the Central Saanich municipal election in November.

Former Central Saanich councillor Zeb King announced that he will run for a council seat in the Central Saanich municipal election in November.

“It was an honour to serve the community as a councillor for six years and I would like to give back again to this exceptional municipality,” he said.

King was first elected in 2002 at the age of 27, again in 2005 and was not re-elected in 2008.

“To anyone who thinks their vote doesn’t make a difference … I can say it sure does make a difference.” King, who lost his seat by a small margin, said.

In reference to increased spending  in the district King said: “Tennis courts and infrastructure are important, but we also need to establish our priorities. We must ensure that we can afford to live here.”

“I believe in open and transparent government, playing by the rules and fairness for all residents which starts with holding regular office hours to talk and work with residents.”

King said the Official Community Plan and Regional Growth Strategy are contracts between the community and neighbouring municipalities. “I recognize these contracts and will uphold them. The time has come for a return to sensible planning and relationship building, with citizens and neighbours.”

King works for the BC Ministry of Health as a senior policy analyst. He has chaired the Water and Wastewater Committees and was seated on water advisory commissions for the Capital Regional District, and Canadian Standards Association.

King has a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Victoria.

“I’m running to be your voice for your community. I look forward to talking with you, the voters of Central Saanich,” he said.
