Just one highway accident despite snow: RCMP

Peninsula roads may be slippery this snow day, but drivers staying home or being careful

While the snow may have slowed mid-morning, RCMP on the Peninsula still recommend keeping the car at home if you can.

"If you don't have to go out, don't do it. If you do have to go out, make sure you go slow and drive appropriately for the conditions," Cpl. Chris Swain, of Sidney North Saanich RCMP.

Sidney North Saanich RCMP report only one minor accident, where a vehicle slid off the Pat Bay Highway near Amity Drive this morning.

While the snow has stopped, Swain said, it will take some time for road maintenance crews to catch up in road clearing.
