UPDATED: Pedestrian struck in fatal Colwood crash

Emergency crews were called to Island Highway in Colwood for a fatal crash involving a pedestrian Friday evening.

A pedestrian was struck at around 6:20 p.m., according to the West Shore RCMP, and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

On Saturday morning, West Shore RCMP confirmed the crash was fatal.

A RCMP crash analyst was on scene, along with West Shore RCMP officers, and the Colwood and View Royal fire departments on Friday evening.

Part of the roadway near West Shore Parks and Recreation was closed with emergency crews directing traffic. A single lane was still moving in both directions while emergency crews were on scene.

The roadway reopened at around 9:45 p.m.

This is the third time a pedestrian has been struck in the West Shore in two days.

The previous two incidents — one at McCallum Road and Millstream Road on Thursday and the other at Goldstream Avenue and Veteran’s Memorial Parkway on Friday morning — resulted in minor, non-life-threatening injuries according to West Shore RCMP.
