Serious crash on Island Highway Friday evening

Emergency crews were called to Island Highway in Colwood for a fatal crash involving a pedestrian Friday evening.

A pedestrian was struck at around 6:20 p.m., according to the West Shore RCMP, and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

On Saturday morning, West Shore RCMP confirmed the crash was fatal.

A RCMP crash analyst was on scene, along with West Shore RCMP officers, and the Colwood and View Royal fire departments on Friday evening.

Part of the roadway near West Shore Parks and Recreation was closed with emergency crews directing traffic. A single lane was still moving in both directions while emergency crews were on scene.
