As snow melts in Greater Victoria, residents and business owners are reminded to clear snow from storm drainage systems.

The City of Victoria is advising residents in the region to keep storm drains in their respective neighbourhoods clear of snow and ice to prevent flooding.

When a drain seems blocked, residents should attempt clearing a channel for the runoff.

Only clean surface debris is to be handled as city crews can handle garbage or any hazards in the storm drain, the city advises.

The city’s public works department can be reached if snow and ice cannot be cleared at 250-361-0400.
