Four arrested in home invasion

Five-week investigation leads to drugs, cash

Central Saanich Police Service, with the assistance of  the Sidney North Saanich RCMP and the Regional Crime Unit,  arrested four people after a five-week investigation into a home invasion in Brentwood Bay.

The home invasion, which Central Saanich Police confirm was a targeted crime, occurred in the 1200 block of Verdier Avenue on Aug. 24.

"The victim was home when three masked men entered his apartment in search of drugs and cash," said Cpl. Janis Jean, in a Central Saanich Police media release. "Two of the men were carrying handguns and one of them discharged a blank round in the apartment. The victim was not physically harmed in this incident."

On Oct. 6, in the late afternoon, a search warrant was executed at a home in View Royal and two restricted firearms were seized. A taser, drugs and cash were also seized as part of the investigation.

The two Victoria men accused, Cameron D. Bowes, 23, and Cory A. Hage, 25, appeared in Victoria Provincial Court on Oct. 6. Both were remanded in custody until Oct.13. The two other accused suspects were youth. The Central Saanich boys, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, have been charged and were released on conditions.

Charges on all the accused include: unlawful confinement, robbery with a firearm, break and enter to commit an indictable offense, and conspiracy to commit and indictable offense.
