The Saanichton Farm combine clears a crop of lentils in Central Saanich.

Saanichton Farm is putting its new combine into good use. They’ve added lentils to the local harvest in Greater Victoria.

“We were able to harvest our first ever lentil crop in Greater Victoria,” said Bryce Rashleigh. “We averaged 14.3 bushels or 860 pounds per acre.”

They utilized the partnership with Alberta farmer, and family friend, Dan Grudecki to set up the combine for a great thresh.

“Pete (Rashleigh) and Dan nailed the combine settings perfectly right from the get go,” Bryce Rashleigh said.

The crew plans to head to Grudecki’s farm in Acadia Valley, Alberta to observe his durum harvest before bringing in another barley harvest in the Blenkinsop Valley to start September.
