Citizens on Patrol still seeking new volunteers in Sidney, North Saanich

Volunteers are interviewed, given police background checks, and trained before they go out on patrol.

SIDNEY — The local branch of Citizens on Patrol (COP) in conjunction with Sidney North Saanich RCMP,  are still seeking volunteers who are interested in joining their program.

Under the direction of police, COP volunteers patrol in their own vehicles, in pairs, and report any suspicious or criminal activity to which the police can prioritize and respond.

Volunteers are interviewed, given police background checks, and trained before they go out on patrol. Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of one four-hour shift per month.
