Sidney North Saanich RCMP and Central Saanich police officers flood West Saanich Road in search of suspect

A wary resident resulted in an arrest yesterday afternoon in Central Saanich.

Central Saanich police arrested a 36-year-old North Saanich man yesterday March 8 after police were called around 4:30 p.m. to the 8000 block of West Saanich Road.

A resident saw a man enter the home, and found him in the basement, police said in a news release.

The resident confronted the suspect who had left on foot by the time police arrived and nothing was reported stolen.

The homeowner gave police a detailed description and officers from Central Saanich and the Sidney North Saanich RCMP flooded the area. A suspect was arrested by the Central Saanich police roughly two kilometers away.

Police also found marijuana on the North Saanich man who was held in custody overnight and transported to Victoria for a court appearance this morning.

He faces charges of being unlawfully in a dwelling, breach of probation and possession of a controlled substance.
