If the candidates were to vote, and not for themselves, Edith Loring-Kuhanga would represent the Saanich Gulf Islands.

Elizabeth May (Green), Gary Lunn (Conservative), Loring-Kuhanga (NDP) and Renée Hetherington (Liberal) answered one final question for moderator Stephen Andrew of A News to finish off the all candidates meeting Wednesday night in Sidney.

If you couldn’t vote for yourself, who would you vote for? In front of the standing-room-only crowd in the Bodine Family Hall at the Mary Winspear Centre, all three other candidates admitted they would vote for Loring-Kuhanga, who said she’d vote for Hetherington.

Andrew wove the candidates through questions from the crowd that ranged from opinion on the Indian Act to policy on pot (see video online at www.peninsulanewsreview.com).

More than 700 people showed up for the all candidates meeting sponsored by the Peninsula News Review, Saanich Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Federation of University Women.

As Andrew wrapped up the evening, keeping it to two hours, he urged residents to get out and vote, but also do more.

“Make sure your neighbour votes,” he said.
