BC Hydro: 17 outages ongoing on southern Vancouver Island

More than 700 people still affected

BC Hydro is working on restoring power to more than 700 southern Vancouver Island residents.

As of 1 p.m. Monday, the City of Victoria has several outages, all due to recent winds, according to BC Hydrop’s website. The outage since the night of Feb. 8 in the area of West Coast and Parkinson roads has crews on site and affects 387 people. More than 200 people near Seaside Drive, West Coast Road, and Timmer Place have been without power since approximately 4:30 a.m Monday. There are several other outages in Victoria affecting small pockets of residents.

In Metchosin, the 4700-block of Cardsview Terrace has had an outage affecting approximately five people since Sunday morning.

Saanich has several small outages affecting pockets of residents. Crews have been assigned to all of the outages. All are stated to be caused by wind with the exception of an outage in the 600-block of Goyette Road and the 4700-block of Beaverdale Road, where a transformer is being replaced.

Sooke has one outage affecting approximately 100 people ongoing since early Feb. 9 due to a wind storm north of West Coast Road and west of Laronde Road.

The outage in Oak Bay on Gordon Head Road has crews estimated to arrive shortly before 1 p.m.

In North Saanich, the 11300-block of Ravenscroft Place is still without power. Power has been off since approxiately 10 a.m. Sunday.

BC Hydro says crews are working around the clock to restore power to affected areas.
