With a generous matching pledge of up to $700,000 from a local family, your donation to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Healthcare Foundation’s $2-million medical imaging campaign will have double the impact.

As longtime Peninsula residents, the Saanich Peninsula Hospital has been part of Steve and Nancy Nagy’s lives for as long as they can remember. So too has the Saanich Peninsula Hospital & Healthcare Foundation, which provides the vital support needed to ensure health care teams can continue providing exceptional care for patients.

For the Nagys, what began as a donation to a specific event grew to regular support for the Foundation’s annual campaign. Later, Nancy and her mom, Margery Littley, would co-chair a fundraising campaign for the hospital’s long-term care, where Margery is now a resident.

“It’s just such an amazing hospital,” Nancy says, commending the staff she sees regularly during visits with her mother. “You see how committed the community is to their hospital – it’s like this little gem.”

For Nancy, the holidays provide the ideal opportunity to give back to her hospital. Rather than exchanging gifts with her siblings, for example, she’ll share her gratitude with the hospital that’s at the heart of her community. “It really wasn’t until we got involved with the Foundation that we began to fully appreciate everything they do,” she says. From the long-term care initiative to the current campaign for a new X-ray machine, “I like that you always see where your money is going.”

A commitment to community health care

While donors come to the Foundation from different places, a passion for the invaluable work undertaken at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital is virtually universal.

At no time is this more evident than during the holidays.

As we look forward to sharing time with friends and family, health care teams will continue providing exceptional care like that experienced by the Nagys, just as they have throughout the last year of ever-changing protocols and increasing demands presented by the pandemic.

This giving season, you can help your hospital continue to provide exceptional care, for everyone who comes through its doors.

Your gift has double the impact

The Saanich Peninsula Hospital & Healthcare Foundation’s $2-million medical imaging campaign will allow the hospital to purchase a state-of-the-art Siemens X-ray machine and other equipment to ensure the Saanich Peninsula Hospital continues to excel in patient care. The campaign will also fund required renovations to the X-ray room to ensure it meets today’s safety standards, and provide the doctors, nurses and entire health care team with vital equipment they need to care for patients.

And with a generous matching pledge of up to $700,000 from a local family, your donation will have double the impact.

A lasting legacy

While the Foundation’s annual campaign targets specific equipment, legacy giving allows the Foundation and hospital to plan for the future.

A legacy gift – a donation outlined in your will alongside your other bequests – lets you continue giving to a cause you believe in, while also providing tax savings for the estate. And because legacy gifts are often invested, not spent, it provides the foundation with long-term stability.
