Relax and enjoy a delicious meal on the Ardmore Golf Course patio.

From a smaller retirement celebration for a dozen people to a larger corporate affair, if you’re planning an event, you have innumerable decisions to make.

The perfect location, activities, food and beverages … the right combination will make for a memorable day for all.

The good news it that it’s easy to keep it local on the Saanich Peninsula with the experts at Ardmore Golf Course.

The picturesque, nine-hole course in North Saanich is a popular location for private events – with or without golf, says Axle Riley, Ardmore’s general manager and a PGA of Canada Class ‘A’ Professional.

That said, by far a nine or 18-hole golf tourney followed by an exceptional meal is the most popular option, Riley says. “As a quiet, nine-hole course, it’s a good course for it,” Riley notes.

For smaller events without golf, such as businesses meetings, Christmas parties, celebration of life, or even an intimate wedding, staff work with the hosts to create a memorable event.

The perfect setting: Ardmore hosted some 40 private tourneys last year, each welcoming between 12 and 80 people. Typically using a shotgun start – with teams teeing off at the same time from each hole – it feels like you have the course to yourself, and everyone finishes at about the same time, Riley says. “They feel like they’ve reserved the course for the day and after them come in, they have the whole clubhouse.”

Options for all: Ardmore also offers a full selection of rental clubs for those who don’t regularly golf, and a fleet of electric golf carts to add that social element between players that tournament organizers often want.

A memorable meal: After working up an appetite on the links, relax on the lighted, heated patio overlooking the ninth green or in the lounge with a beverage and a delicious meal catered by the Saanich Peninsula’s own Roost or Spitfire Grill. No hamburgers here – unless that’s what you’d like – typical dinners include chicken, ribs, steak or salmon, along with potatoes, vegetables and salad, or heartier menus like lasagna and chicken curry. “The food is always great,” Riley notes.

A great location: While the course feels “away from it all,” in fact its central location is one of its main draws for golfers, who visit from across the region. Ardmore is just 22 minutes from the Uptown Shopping Centre, 10 minutes from Sidney and five minutes from Victoria Airport. And because Ardmore is a little more relaxed than some, quality doesn’t come at added cost, Riley notes.

Celebrating local: Truly local, Ardmore Golf Course has been owned by the same family since its founding in 1936. That history plays out in its welcoming approach to members and guests, but also its community connections. “I love to work with local businesses,” Riley says. “We definitely like supporting the smaller, local businesses in everything we do.”
