VIDEO: Vehicle engulfed in flames causes traffic disruptions on Pat Bay Highway

Traffic is distrupted on the Pat Bay Highway due to a vehicle fire.

The Central Saanich Police Service and the Central Saanich Fire Department responded to a vehicle that was engulfed in flames on the Patricia Bay Highway, just north of the intersection with Island View Road.

On Wednesday (Nov. 27), the driver of a Toyota Lexus RX300 SUV pulled over Pat Bay Highway when his engine compartment caught fire. 

Fire crew arrived on the scene around 4:39 pm. and was able to put out the fire immediately.

According to Central Saanich deputy fire chief Stacey Lee, the driver was safe and had no injuries.

Traffic on Pat Bay northbound was closed for 20 minutes,  reduced to a single lane for another 20 minutes before normal traffic flow resumed aruond 5:30 p.m.
