The Peninsula Singers are all set for their holiday shows this December at Mary Winspear Centre.
But true to their holly, jolly and generous spirit, they are performing some of their songs to the extended care unit at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital on Nov. 27, ahead of their upcoming Christmas concerts.
This year, the show choir has prepared a repertoire of traditional and contemporary Christmas music in their holiday concert dubbed "Deck the Halls" at the Charlie White Theatre, Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney from Dec. 6 – 8.
“Deck the Halls is a jolly, eighteenth-century Welsh carol,” says artistic director Lena Palermo. “It’s a spirited invitation to gather and celebrate with friends and family but we’re excited to give the song a new twist arranged in the style of popular a capella group Pentatonix.”
Special guests include Victoria’s Stages Dance Company performing thrilling original routines, talented young artist Sonja Ayala and the choir’s professional band of musicians including pianist Janet Yonge, percussionist Terry Erskine, violinist Jessica Natale Woollard, guitarist Ryan Lainchbury and bassist Ben Fast.
Attendees can also join the choir in supporting the Saanich Peninsula Lions Food Bank through cash donations on Dec. 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m. and then again on Dec. 8 at 2 p.m.
