Members of the North Saanich Rod and Gun Club (NSRGC) are rallying this month to help seniors in need.

"During the cherished Christmas season, we revel in celebrating cherished moments with our loved ones, forging lasting memories," the recreational sporting group said in a news release. "However, it's crucial to acknowledge that not all individuals can fully partake in this festive spirit. Within North Saanich, numerous independent senior residents face financial challenges that prevent them from enjoying a traditional Christmas meal."

For the fifth year in a row, the group's Peninsula Communities Christmas fundraising efforts will help Beacon Community Services – a non-profit that offers community care and support to folks on southern Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands – provide precooked food to isolated seniors on the Saanich Peninsula, through its More than Meals program.

All month, NSRGC members have been sending e-transfers to the club, which it plans to send after Christmas. Last year, thee campaign raked in a whopping $9,000. Non-members who want to donate to a cause can at: nsrgc-holiday-campaign.raiselysite.com.

“North Saanich Rod and Gun Club have strong roots in our community since 1908 and have made a commitment to be more active in our communities of North Saanich, Sidney, Saanich and Victoria," Dave Metcalf, NSRGC's Christmas fund co-chair, said in the same news release. "We look forward to a successful ... campaign and know that we will be cheering up our seniors, and we send them our best Christmas wishes and a healthy New Year.”
