UPDATED: Geoff Orr elected mayor of North Saanich

Orr took home 64 per cent of the vote

Geoff Orr has been elected mayor of North Saanich.

He was elected with 64 per cent of the vote over Dorothy Hartshorne, and called the results “overwhelming”.

“I’m honoured to be voted in as the mayor for the District of North Saanich. The electorate has placed their trust in me, and I’m certain I can fulfill that trust,” said Orr.

“We have a great group of councillors, and I’m really looking forward to working with them over the next four years while we continue to make North Saanich one of the best places to live.”

Hartshorne was not able to be reached for comment Saturday night, but posted the following message on her Facebook page:

All six council candidates – Joscelyn Barnard, Heather Gartshore, Jack McClintock, Brett Smyth, Celia Stock and Murray Weisenberger, were acclaimed to North Saanich council.
