Central Saanich is seeking residents's feedback on zoning and land use poposals.

The District of Central Saanich is considering changes to the official community plan (OCP) and zoning bylaw to expand housing options on agricultural and rural zoned lots.

A public hearing will be held at 6 p.m. Monday (Jan. 13) at the municipal hall council chambers to seek the community's input on changes to the OCP to include farm protection development permit guidelines for detached accessory dwelling units.

Additionally, the public hearing will examine changing the zoning bylaw to allow for both a secondary suite and a detached accessory dwelling on properties one hectare or larger and to permit either a secondary suite or a detached accessory dwelling on lots smaller than one hectare.

These two bylaws were given first and second reading by the council in November 2024 in order to bring them into compliance with Agricultural Land Commission rules and provincial laws.

Questions or comments submitted by noon on Jan. 13 through mail or email (planning@csaanich.ca)  will be included in the revised meeting agenda.

The meeting can be viewed online at CSaanich.ca/Meetings.
