Annual Parade on Wheels returns to Sidney

Kids decorated their rides, sang songs, and danced for residents of care centres along Mills Road.

On Aug. 9, a family owned Sidney childcare centre spent their morning parading through town for the enjoyment and enrichment of both the children and the seniors who reside in the surrounding community.

Positive Path Early Learning Inc. held their annual Parade on Wheels in which the kids decorated their rides, sang songs, and danced for three care centres along Mills Road.

"After doing the parade for many years, this event is anticipated with excitement by both the children, and the residents of the three care facilities on Mills Road," noted an email statement from Joanne Abbott, manager of Positive Path.

The parade was joined by families and members of other local organizations, and the kids comprised of current enrolment, members of the alumni, and future enrollees.

The centre was founded by Abbott and her sister Wendy in 2021 and they care for about 25 children at a time.

"It's really nice to have a program where we can connect with the community that we're a part of," said Abbott. "We're happy to have our business here in Sidney, and Sidney is a really lovely community,"
