There’s more deboccery slated for the Peninsula on Friday (July 20) at the third annual DeBOCCEry tournament takes place at the McTavish Academy of Art.

It’s the third time that the event has been held and it’s become bit of a tradition that many of the 20 or so teams involved don costumes to demonstrate their enthusiasm for the event. Organizers say that speculation that the more elaborate the costume, the more questionable the skill of the teams has no proven grounding in fact.

Regardless, the event features food, drinks and live music and, with past team names like Fuhgetabocce, Stubby Lite, and Mari-Bocce Band, more than a little fun.

Registration starts at MAOA on McTavish Road in North Saanich. at 11 a.m. and the actual games kick off at noon.

The registration fee is $200 for a team of four.
