Sidney North Saanich COPs looking for more volunteers

Volunteers are interviewed, given police background checks and are trained before they go out on patrol.

SIDNEY — Sidney North Saanich Citizens on Patrol (COP) in conjunction with Sidney North Saanich RCMP, are looking for volunteers who are interested in the program.

Under the direction of the local police, COP volunteers patrol in their own vehicles, in pairs, and report any suspicious or criminal activity to which the police can prioritize and respond.

Volunteers are interviewed, given police background checks and are trained before they go out on patrol. Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of one four-hour shift per month.
