Highway 1 reopens after fatal collision closes Highway 1 west of Kamloops

Highway 1 has reopened west of Kamloops after being closed for several hours while emergency crews responded to a fatal collision.

Highway 1 is closed in both directions 20 to 30 km west of Kamloops due to a fatal collision.

Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment said at around 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, frontline officers were called to a two-vehicle collision on the highway. Three people were transported to hospital with unknown injuries and another is deceased.

“Motorists are asked to please avoid the area and watch DriveBC for updates related to the closure,” said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment spokesperson.
