The Sidney Classical Orchestra will present a youthful taste of chamber music with the VIctoria Conservatory of Music Collegium students this Friday in Sidney.

The Wonders of Youth will bring the Victoria Conservatory of Music Collegium chamber music to Sidney in a fundraiser for the conservatory and the Sidney Classical Orchestra.

The Victoria Conservatory of Music Collegium program brings talented young classical musicians together with an outstanding faculty for a lively music making experience and the pursuit of excellence. Founded in January 2006, the collegium provides an enriched curriculum to talented, motivated teenage classical musicians. Designed for singers, pianists and other instrumentalists who have reached at least Grade 9 level in their primary instrument, the collegium program includes a busy schedule of master classes, seminars, performances and residencies by distinguished guest artists. The goal of the collegium is to create a lively community of young musicians who are prepared to devote the time necessary to exploring their musical talents and abilities.

The Sidney Classical Orchestra will join the talented young students in an evening of various chamber music ensembles to wrap up its concert season.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for youth; available at Tanners Books (Sidney), Russell Nursery (North Saanich), City Scribe (Brentwood Bay), Long & McQuade (Victoria) and Tom Lee Music (Langford) or at the door.

The Wonder of Youth will be held at St. Elizabeth’s Church, Third Street on April 8 at 7:30 p.m. Visit www.sidneyclassicalorchestra.ca for more information.
