It’s the ultimate pet weekend with food, treats, tricks, training and presentations for you and your four-legged, furry friend. There will be dozens of booths full of pet products, service providers, entertainers, trusted pet experts, and clubs and organizations that cater to pets — plus lots of giveaways and great discounts on pet products and services! Don’t miss the famous Dachshund Dash, with wiener dog races happening each day at 2 p.m.

Join a team and clean up your favourite spot in Sooke for the chance to win gift certificates to Sooke Mountain Cycle, Well-Read Books, and more. Register to clean up a section of your community, like a beach, park, highway, or even a backyard. Start and end whenever. Registration is free, with gloves, bags, and bins for garbage, recycling, and metal all provided. Take a group picture with your haul when you’re done, and submit your registration form for a chance to win. Prizes will be awarded at the Planet Earth Party on Sunday, April 22. Check out Victoria Public Market to add to your yarn and fibre collection. There’s island yarn dyers, felt artists, pottery, buttons and more. Venders include Elderberry Yarns Cool Cat Fiber Works Fosforos Stitch JOMA Yarn Burnt Curve PotterGee Endless Roving & Fibrecraft Jill’s Fibres, SpiritSong Fibre Studio Twisty Tree Fibre Artworks and a spinning and weaving demonstration from the Victoria Hand Spinners and Weavers Guild! We will also have door prizes and a photo booth! To top off the perfect yarny day you can also mini yarn crawl across the street to the historic and amazing Beehive Wool Shop!

Juan de Fuca Library Book Sale

Saturday April 14 (1-5 p.m.) and Sunday April 15 (9 a.m.-3:15 p.m.)

If you go down the hill behind the Juan de Fuca Branch and Rec Centre, you’ll find a book sale — all to support the programs and services of the Greater Victoria Public Library. Admission is $3 on Saturday, with book prices as marked. On Sunday, admission is free with book prices as marked except for the last two hours, where admission is $10 and books are free!

Vic West Lawn Bowling Club

95 Bay St.

Saturday April 14 (10-2 p.m.)

Try your hand at lawn bowling. It is a fun, social and relaxing game; very similar to curling. All you need is a pair of flat-soled shoes; admission is free.
