Monopoly-themed event raises money for the Canadian Cancer Society

The Monopoly Affair is happening Feb. 23 at the Delta Ocean Point Hotel and Spa

It’s time to pull out the pearls and your best (tiny, silver) top hat– the Monopoly Affair is back.

On Saturday Feb. 23 the Monopoly board game-themed fundraiser invites attendees to dress up like they’re about to buy the neighborhood, and fundraise for cancer research on the way.

Hosted at the Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort and Spa , the evening will begin with drinks and light food before the 90-minute, tournament style game leads tables of six through a fast-paced evening of tycoonery.

Throughout the night drinks are available at a cash bar, with light snacks.

There will also be a silent auction which in previous years included pearls and gold jewelry, a large collection of wine and champagne, a whale watching and Butchart Gardens excursion, a penthouse staycation at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel and Spa, a two-night trip to Seattle, and more.

There will also be a gift wall where guests can pay $100 to buy a mysterious boxed gift ranging in value from $50-$1,000. Prizes include overnight stays in Whistler, trips to Vancouver, gift certificates to local restaurants, HarbourCats tickets and more.

Event tickets are $100 per person, $600 per table or $2,500 per VIP table, which includes a private pre-tournament reception and food and cocktails by jazz vocalist Maureen Washington.

Proceeds from the event go towards the Canadian Cancer Society.

The event begins at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23.
