Gerber brings boogie

Blues meets Boogie-woogie meets gospel means no-holds barred in Brentwood Bay this weekend.

Performer Alan Gerber is set to share his music May 7.

At 15, Gerber recorded two original songs for Chess Records. He was a member of Rhinoceros, and has toured with BB King, the Grateful Dead, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix and others. Now based in Quebec, he still tours with his blistering solo show, wowing audiences internationally.

In the past few years he has played the Montreal Jazz Festival, Ottawa Blues Festival, Fort Lauderdale Blues Festival, and toured Europe extensively.

In December 2010 he made the cover of Cashbox magazine with a number 1 hit single, and was nominated for the Grammy long-list with two songs.

The show is Saturday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. at Brentwood Bay United Church, 7162 West Saanich Road.
