Visitors and residents alike can expect to see the unexpected in downtown Sidney on All Hallows' Eve as the community party Treat Street marks a decade.
Families, friends, and Halloween enthusiasts of all ages are invited to don their best costumes and take to the streets for a safe and exciting trick-or-treating experience. Local businesses along Beacon Avenue and the surrounding streets will open their doors, offering candy and treats to all the little ghosts, goblins, and ghouls who join in the fun.
Explore Sidney (Sidney BIA) and Peninsula Celebrations Society host the 10th free family event Oct. 31 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Beacon Avenue.
"This event is one of our favourite annual traditions, bringing the community together in a fun, safe, and festive way," BIA executive director Morgan Shaw said in a news release.
In addition to trick-or-treating, the event features street entertainment and photo-worthy moments for families to capture the Halloween magic.
Treat Street marks a culmination of Halloween events ongoing in Sidney. From now through Oct. 31 the garden court at 2360 features a dazzling display of jack-o-lanterns, lights and pumpkins. The Sidney Pier at the end of Bevan Avenue is similarly decked out courtesy of Ocean View Estates.
The Sidney Museum hosts a Historical Halloween Hunt with 16 jack-o-lantern pictures depicting different traditions hidden around the museum. Find all 16 and learn about the history of Halloween! More information is available at sidneymuseum.ca.
Until Nov. 1, the Sidney/North Saanich Branch of the Vancouver Island Regional Library hosts a mega challenge for kids to search the children’s area for skeletons to solve a riddle and be entered for a prize.
