Students tackle invasive plants near Oak Bay High waterway

Bowker Creek is an ongoing project for students

The Grade 9 discovery (DISCO) science class at Oak Bay High did a clean up of invasive plants at Bowker Creek.

It is very important to keep our ecosystem clean and healthy and when we noticed there were lots of invasive plants that could cause problems, we decided we would do a clean up for world river day.

We have been studying ecology and it was really cool to see all of that outside in real life. We dug up lots of dandelions and invasive plants and also cleaned up trash and removed blackberry bushes. Bowker Creek is very important to our ecosystem in Victoria and we need to keep it clean.
