Head out and read events are returning to the Saanich Peninsula this summer.

Hosted by Saanich Peninsula Literacy, in partnership with a variety of community organizations, these events feature free books, self-guided story walks, songs and hopefully sunshine.

The first goes July 7 in Brentwood at Pioneer Park, 7130 West Saanich Rd., and the second takes place in Sidney on Aug. 11 at Iroquois Park, 2295 Ocean Ave. Both events run from 10 a.m. until noon and are free.
