Start the new year with a stroll in Oak Bay

Other free fitness classes open to residents

The annual community walk leaves the Oak Bay Recreation Centre lobby at 12:30 p.m. on the first day of 2019.

The new year always starts with a little community mixed with fitness in Oak Bay. This year, the fun runs from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the recreation centre at 1975 Bee St.

Join mayor and council on the four-kilometre community walk leaving the Oak Bay Recreation Centre lobby at 12:30 p.m. Come back to a meet and greet with the municipal council in the Sports View Lounge with coffee and tea from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Other free fitness sessions at Oak Bay Recreation Centre on New Year’s Day include Jazzercise from noon to 1 p.m., tennis from 1 to 3:30 p.m., a skate from noon to 1:30 p.m., leisure and lengths swimming from noon to 2 p.m. and kids fun swim from 2 to 4:30.

Pre-register for fitness orientation sessions at 1, 2 and 3 p.m.
