Volunteers will be hard at it Saturday, sprucing up the final resting place for many of Saanich’s pioneers.

A community cleanup is in the woks at St. Luke’s historic cemetery from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. St. Luke’s Churchyard is one of Victoria’s earliest church burial grounds and the final resting place of many Cedar Hill, Lake Hill and Gordon Head pioneers as well as others who settled in the area.

The public is invited to join parish volunteers as they clean headstones and graves, pull a few weeds and tidy the churchyard at 3821 Cedar Hill Cross Rd. Light refreshments will be served.

Community cleanups will be held on the third Saturday of the month from 9 to 11:30 a.m. through to August. For more information, visit www.stlukesvictoria.ca/events or call 250-477-6741.
