A Saanich Peninsula health care aide is receiving top accolades for her dedication and service.

Cathy Naismith was honoured with the BC Care Provider of the Year Award, in the long-term care category, at the ninth annual BC Care Awards.

For the past eight years, Naismith has worked at Beacon Community Services’ licensed dementia care facility Brentwood House.

The first to go above and beyond in her work, Beacon said in a statement that “Cathy’s support for residents and her mentorship to other caregivers ensures residents have the highest quality of life possible and they feel at home.”

The BC Care Providers Association commended Naismith for her authenticity, which fosters a safe and trusting environment for residents and staff. “Her reliability, hardworking ethos, honesty and natural ease with people shine through every day. In her care, residents are treated with utmost dignity and respect.”

The ninth annual BC Care Awards were held Feb. 28 in Victoria. The BC Care Provider of the Year Award celebrates individuals who deliver exceptional care and support to seniors.
