Some serious training and costume design is underway as Bolen Books announces its second puzzle competition.

The reigning champs return to defend their title on Feb. 23, in what is expected to be a sold out event.

Teams of four are all given the same 1,000 piece puzzle and have three hours to complete it. The first team finished wins, getting bragging rights and their names engraved on the championship trophy. There are prizes awarded to the top three teams.

With the fun and popular competition free to join, there are only 10 spots left of the 35 planned. Teams of four are encouraged to sign up soon to ensure a spot.

“People really have fun with it. Lots of teams wore costumes last year,” said Vaughn Naylor, promotions coordinator for Bolen Books.

The competition takes place at Hillside Centre Court from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

To enter the competition, gather a team of four and send your name and team name to bolenspecialevents@gmail.com or stop in the store to sign up.

Each team will have their own dedicated table. The competition is hands only, with no aids allowed (cutting devices, flashlights, phones, tablets, etc.), though sorting trays are OK.

If no team completes their puzzle by 4 p.m., the team with the least amount of puzzle pieces left wins.
