A Victoria group has organized a unique Valentine’s Day event that promises to offer a chance to eat, drink, dance, play, mix and mingle — all in the context of a gala black tie, red carpet event.

And, as if that isn’t enough of a reason to attend, Jessica Pittella of the organizing group, the One Voice Institute, has revealed that all of the proceeds of the event will go to support four local charities, including two from Sooke.

One Voice has selected Mustard Seed, Victoria Cool Aid, Sooke Crisis Centre and Sooke Food Bank as this year’s recipients of funding.

“This is such a cool and exciting thing. Everyone I’ve spoken to loves these charities and speaks about how they do such great work,” Pittella said.

“We’re a management consulting group but part of our mission has always been to do good within the community. That’s just who we are.”

The event kick offs at 8 p.m. at the Da Vinci Centre in Victoria on Feb. 14,and provides those attending with the full red carpet treatment.

“We’ll have paparazzi, cameras and videographers on the red carpet and those who want to have that red carpet experience will be dazzled by all the attention,” Pittella said.

Of course, while some will choose to pull out all the stops and arrive in tuxedos and gowns, ready for all the attention, others are certainly welcome to attend in more reserved business casual attire.

“Everyone is welcome to attend and no, black tie attire isn’t required by any means. After all, these people are coming out to help these groups and some folks will just dress for the moment. It’s all in good fun.”

The Valentine’s Day event is not the only charitable initiative of the One Voice Institute.

Pittella said they will be hosting three other events over the course of the year, including an art show, a culinary series in which healthy food preparation lessons will be provided, and two other events still to be announced.

“We actually do a million small things every year and try to build a sense of giving back into everything we do, even with our corporate customers,” she said.

The Red Carpet Gala will be afforded the total VIP experience from the moment they arrive, Pittella said.

“They will enjoy live, local entertainment, including WE3, a mesmerizing dance band, and the enthralling and jazzy sound of Cascadia,” she said

There’ll be gourmet appetizers, and decadent desserts, classic cocktails and brand-new signature Valentine’s Day drinks.”

She added that there will be endless choices for fun, including exciting trivia contests, team or group competitions of mind-bending games, dance contests, mingling activities, silent auctions for prizes from gift baskets, collectibles including paintings, photography, artisan jewellery, antiques, talent judging, and much more.

Tickets start at $65 for a single ticket but discounts for couples and groups are also available. Tickets can be reserved at the One Voice Institute website.

“We hope to raise $20,000 this year, and already have our eye on increasing that amount in future years,” Pittella said.
