NORTH SAANICH — The Peninsula Lacrosse Association’s Bantam A team — consisting of 12 and 13 year old boys from North Saanich Middle School and Bayside Middle School in Central Saanich — brought home silver medals from the North Okanagan “Rock the House” box lacrosse tournament recently.

The boys managed to fundraise with bottle drives and a raffle (prizes generously donated by The Pier Hotel and Thrifty Foods) to pay for costs associated with a bus rental, ferry and hotel.

Playing teams from the lower mainland and Alberta, the Peninsula team placed fourth after round robin play and then defeated the first place team from Calgary to earn a spot in the gold medal game.

While they lost that game, the locals came away from the tournament with a silver medal, many smiles and a ton of good memories.

The boys would like to thank their coaches Ty Heavenor, Eric Heavenor, Kurt Young and Nolan Tytgat, as well as the community at large for all of the support they received.
