Another child care option is coming to the Peninsula.
The Saanich School District shared in an email with parents and guardians, that it, in partnership with Beacon Community Services, will be opening a nature-based child care centre on Veyaness Road in Central Saanich.
The site used to be home to the South Saanich School, which operated between 1873 and 1913. The land was donated by the Turgoose family “to be held and used for public school purposes,” according to the email.
SD63 is asking parents, guardians, staff and community members to weigh in on a name for the centre. The survey is open until March 12 and asks for feedback on two suggested names. SESISEJ, meaning little forest in SECOTEN, was recommended by WSANEC elders and the second option, TITETEM, means little bird.
The survey is available at saanichschools.ca/form/naming-survey.
