Race fans can get up close and personal with some of their favourite drivers and cars this weekend.
Several lite sprint cars and winged sprint cars will be on display at P&R Western Star at the corner of Keating X Road and Oldfield Road in Central Saanich.
On May 14 from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. the public is invited to meet the drivers, see a Central Saanich Fire Department ladder truck and enjoy a barbecue. There will be free give-aways including race posters that drivers will autograph and a limited number of free tickets to watch the cars race on May 21.
Drivers in attendance include Ron French, Daryll Morneau and Brian Bickford of Central Saanich and Chris Root of Sidney.
Donations from the barbeque will be given to the Central Saanich Fire Department's charitable foundation which supports fire victims, burn units and muscular dystrophy research.
