Chef cooks up ‘nifty ’50s’ diner atmosphere at Central Saanich care centre

Mount Newton Centre offers day programs, respite for Saanich Peninsula seniors

Mount Newton Centre clients are chowing down in shiny new diner digs after a revamp courtesy of the chef.

Clients cheered during a big reveal of the new 1950s-style dining room, with a video posted on the Central Saanich centre’s social media April 28.

“Chef Larry donated his time and all supplies to transform the dining room into a nifty ‘50s diner,” the post reads.

A repeat winner in the Peninsula News Review’s Readers’ Choice awards, the centre on Mount Newton X Road offers day health services for Saanich Peninsula seniors and respite for their caregivers.

It also supports an adjacent equipment lending service. The loan cupboard offers health equipment on a short-term loan basis.
