SIDNEY — The 2016 Sidney Anglers Association Salmon Derby takes place on May 7.
There are 300 entry tickets available for people wishing to hit the waters around the Saanich Peninsula. $15,000 in prize money is up for grabs, as well as merchandise prizes. The event sold out last year and organizers suggest getting tickets early.
They can be found at sidneyanglers.ca or from Home Hardware on Beacon Avenue and Island Outfitters in Victoria. Since 2010, the Derby has raised more than $85,000 for salmon enhancement projects on southern Vancouver Island.
