A day-long police investigation ended Sunday afternoon with the arrest of a man who is believed to have shot at a woman’s car early Sunday morning.

Victoria Police say they received a report after a woman told police she believed her car had been targeted just after 2:20 a.m. in the area of Ryan and Shelbourne Streets.

Upon arrival, officers found damage consistent with a gunshot. They then converged on a home in the 1700-block of Kings Road, believed to be associated with their suspect.

Members of the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, the Forensic Identification section, Major Crime Detectives and K9 members were on scene for the majority of the day looking for evidence and executing a search warrant at the residence, according to a news release from police.

Officers were then able to locate and arrest the male suspect later Sunday afternoon in James Bay.

The man remains in custody at this time, but police have not identified him.

They’re recommending he be charged with attempted murder, possession of a prohibited weapon and other firearm offences.
