Advanced voting underway in Saanich byelection

Advanced voting for the upcoming municipal election in Saanich has resumed today at Saanich Municipal Hall.

Advanced voting for the upcoming municipal election in Saanich has resumed today at Saanich Municipal Hall.

It started at 8 a.m. and continues until 8 p.m. This schedule has also changed council’s meeting schedule. Council will meet tomorrow rather than today’s as regularly scheduled.

Saanich voters are electing one councillor to fill the seat empty since the death of Vic Derman in March 2017.

Nathalie Chambers, Keith Davidoff, Michael Geoghegan, Karen Harper, Marsha Henderson, Rebecca Mersereau,  Shawn Newby, Art Pollard, Ned Taylor and Rob Wickson are running for the seat.

Today’s advanced voting takes place after the second and final all-candidates’ forums Thursday last week.The first had taken place Tuesday, Sept. 12.

The first round of advanced voting happened Wednesday.

General voting will take place on Sept. 23 at Cedar Hill rec centre, Gordon Head rec centre, Pearkes rec centre and SaanichCommonwealth Place.
