Thanksgiving Food Drive successful

Volunteers visited more than 15,000 doorsteps, where they collected about 39,000 pounds of donated food.

As participants in the province wide BC Thanksgiving Food Drive during the week ending Sept. 17, community partners in Greater Victoria had a very successful first year, with approximately 500 participants.

These volunteers visited more than 15,000 doorsteps, where they collected about 39,000 pounds of donated food.

Food donations were distributed to the Sidney Lions Food Bank, the Mustard Seed Food Bank, the Goldstream Food Bank Society, and the Salt Spring Community Food Bank.

The total food collected throughout the province was approximately 250,000 pounds valued at $670,000.
