Nominate an access hero

Access Awareness Awards will be given out again this year on June 4.

Access Awareness Committees were first set up after the 1981 International Year of the Disabled when the federal government recommended them after Rick Hansen’s Man in Motion Tour.

Last year Access Awareness day was re-established in Sidney. This year awards will be given to individuals or companies who have made the community more accessible by adding automatic door openers, ramps or other helpful equipment in the last few years and not yet been recognized for their contribution to accessibility.

Send nominee information to the Town of Sidney, 2440 Sidney Avenue, Sidney, BC V8L 1Y7, care of Jeannette Hughes, Healthy Community Commission.

Deadline for entry is May 27, 5 p.m.
