Saanich Peninsula businesses were recognized for their excellence in customer service, new products and overall achievement at the 2013 Crystal Awards.
Held Thursday, Oct. 3 at the Blue Poppy Restaurant at Butchart Gardens, the Crystal Awards were selected by a panel of judges through the Saanich Peninsula Chamber of Commerce.
Up for special recognition that night was Denis Paquette and his extended family, honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award for their years of hard work at the Sidney Waterfront Inn and Suites.

Hale Hughesman - Green Business of the Year.
Mary Winspear Centre - Not-for-Profit Organization of the Year.
Victoria Airport Authority - Contribution to the Community.
Shaggy Dawg Dog Grooming - Outstanding Customer Service.
Peninsula Co-op - Employer of the Year.
Catalina Grill House - New Business.
Melinda’s Biscotti - New Product or Service.
Sidney BIA - Newsmaker of the Year.
Cabinet Works - Business of the Year (1-15 employees).
Victoria Airport Authority - Business of the Year (16-plus employees).
